Riverside Boarding House

Welcome to the Riverside Boarding House in the Medieval heart of Zutphen, The Netherlands. Our lodgings are located on the bank of the Berkel River, just a few yards from where its waters join the IJssel River.

The upper floor of the Boarding House is available for short stays of one to three guests. Please go to Facilities & Booking

On 14 October 1944, this part of the city center was hit by Allied bombs meant to destroy the IJssel River bridge. Large sections of the Northwestern shell of Old Zutphen were damaged. Ten years later, this house was constructed based on plans developed by architect G.J. Jacobs. It is part of a building with typical 'lectern roofs' and is still largely authentic.

Zutphen's Riverside Boarding House is near the city's railway station, the Groenmarkt, Wijnhuis Tower and the Reconstruction Monument by Titus Leeser. Its location is ideal for visiting the Medieval city center and serves as a rest point during your bicycle or canoe trip. You can leave your boat at the public jetty in front of the house, and on a warm day, a cool drink on the shaded jetty will refresh your spirits. The boarding house also serves as starting point for Zutphen's Reconstruction Walk.

Riverside Boarding House has all the 21st-century facilities you want, including central heating and WiFi. In 2024, its interior underwent a colourful facelift. The stroll to the lively and elegant IJssel Quay is just a hundred yards, and a walk to Talamini's irresistible Ice Cream Parlour is roughly double so long.
